Certifications & Organic Standards
At Essentoils, we take pride in sourcing products that meet stringent international organic criteria. To the best of our knowledge and based on the current certifications of our trusted suppliers, our oils comply with the standards set by:
- Kiwa BCS Öko-Garantie GmbH
- GREENCERT-NPOP/NAB/0033 (Organic Production)
- NOP (United States Technical Standards)
- ONECERT – USDA Organic, 7 CFR Part 205
- SGS India (Certification Body)
Our Commitment to Natural & Organic
All Essentoils products are selected in line with natural and organic requirements defined by recognized certifying bodies. These principles ensure:
- Organic farming practices with no use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs.
- Farming methods that safeguard ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and support sustainability.
- Soil fertility maintained through organic cultivation techniques.
- Fair treatment of workers, compliance with human rights and labour laws, and protection against child labour.
- Respect for local communities, traditions, and intellectual property.
- Humane treatment of animals where applicable.
How Certification Works
Suppliers to Essentoils undergo thorough evaluations by independent certification bodies. Certification verifies that production methods, sourcing, and final products meet agreed international standards.
Producers and processors who apply for certification are subject to:
- Farm and facility inspections.
- Audits of production processes, including sourcing of raw materials.
- Ongoing record reviews to confirm compliance with organic requirements.
While many small, independent producers may operate with organic principles, not all are certified due to the high cost of accreditation. For this reason, “organic” quality can sometimes be present even without an official seal. In these cases we do not attach the words Organic to the oils, only those certified by our suppliers as organic are stated as organic.
What Our Oils Represent
When we say our essential oils and absolutes are:
- Natural – Derived entirely from plants or natural minerals with no synthetic components.
- Pure – Contain only the named plant extract, with nothing added or diluted. Free from chemical alteration, keeping the full, unmodified profile of the source plant.
- Organic – Cultivated without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, GMOs, sewage sludge, or radiation.
Wild-Harvested vs. Certified Organic
Long before organic seals existed, many herbs and botanicals were gathered directly from nature—free from chemicals and referred to as “wild harvested” or “organically crafted.”
- Wild-harvested or organically crafted plants grow naturally in their original environment, untouched by fertilizers or chemicals. They often display seasonal and regional variations in their chemical makeup, reflecting the richness of their native habitat.
- Certified organic plants are farmed under strict controls and regularly monitored. They guarantee consistent practices and quality, though they may not show the same natural variations as wild plants.
At Essentoils, we embrace both wild-crafted and certified organic origins, valuing the authenticity and integrity they bring to our product range.
