Our 100% pure Bakuchi Oil (also known as Babchi Oil), is cold pressed from the exquisite black seeds of the Psoralea Corylifolia plant, native to Sri Lanka and India. With its dark red-brown color and strong nutty aroma, Bakuchi Oil has since long been used in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for its magical effects to cure various skin diseases such as psoriasis, leukoderma, and leprosy.

Psoralea corylifolia plant is of immense biological importance, naturally rich in the antioxidant Bakuchiol. In the recent years, Bakuchiol has been gaining popularity due to various researches and is touted to be the next alternative to Retinol - an ingredient that has traditionally been used in anti-ageing skincare products. The benefits of Bakuchiol are very similar to those of Retinol but without the downsides of Retinol - which can cause redness and skin irritation and is prone to photochemical instability. This means that cosmetics containing Bakuchiol can be used on sensitive skin and both morning and evening unlike Retinol which must be use overnight only due to its photo-sensitising effect on skin.

Each and every batch of Amala essential oils is tested by an independent international laboratory before being sent to us. A Certificate of Analysis is issued, stating the purity of the oil.

REPORTED BENEFITS AND USES

COSMETICS

Anti-Aging: Bakuchi oil is revered for its potent anti-aging properties, largely attributed to the presence of bakuchiol—a natural alternative to retinol. Regular application of Bakuchi oil can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots.

Results of studies have showed that, after 12 weeks treatment with Bacuchoil, significant improvement in lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, elasticity, firmness and overall reduction in photo-damage was observed, without usual retinol therapy-associated undesirable side effects (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24471735/ and https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29947134/ )

Skin Disorders: The oil has been traditionally used to address various skin conditions such as psoriasis, vitiligo, and eczema. Its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties make it a valuable addition to skincare routines.

Hair Care: Bakuchi essential oil is believed to stimulate hair follicles, promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss. It can be added to carrier oils or hair masks for an invigorating scalp treatment.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Bakuchi oil possesses notable anti-inflammatory properties that can help alleviate joint pain and swelling associated with conditions like arthritis. Incorporating the oil into massage blends may offer relief to those experiencing discomfort.

Antibacterial and Antifungal Actions: Bakuchi oil's antimicrobial properties make it effective against various bacteria and fungi. It can be used topically to cleanse wounds, soothe insect bites, and combat fungal infections.

Immunomodulatory Effects: The oil is believed to have immunomodulatory effects, meaning it may help regulate the immune system. This makes Bakuchi oil a potential supportive measure for those with autoimmune conditions.

In in vivo studies, Bakuci was used alone or in combination with other products resulting in a significant reduction in photodamage, hyperpigmentation, wrinkle scores, and acne severity. Additionally, in vitro studies hinted at its anti-cancer properties by inhibiting epidermal growth factor induced neoplastic cell transformation (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36176207/ )

Bakuchi oil

I love this oil. I made it into a serum together with frankinsence . I even use it on my upper arms and the results are phenomenal.
I have a problem with the packaging of the oil. The plastic safety seal is extremely difficult to pull off. As a result a whole lot spilled out.
