Our organic Citronella Java Essential Oil is steam distilled from the tall, green blades of Cymbopogon winterianus CT. Jowitt grass in India. Citronella Essential Oil has a medium-strength sweet, citrusy, lemony, woodsy aroma presenting a top-middle fragrance note.

The powerfully intense aroma of Citronella Essential Oil is often associated with insect repellent, but did you know that the benefits of Citronella, extend far beyond this.

Each and every batch of Amala essential oils is tested by an independent international laboratory before being sent to us. A Certificate of Analysis is issued, stating the purity of the oil.

AROMATHERAPY

Along with helping to purify against unwanted microbial activity, Citronella Java Essential Oil is popularly used to help repel mosquitoes and other pesky insects for its natural insect repellent properties. Citronella Java Essential Oil is also helpful for reducing unwelcome pain and inflammation. It can be used to relieve the side effects of overindulgence and of alcohol, drugs & toxins. Its antibacterial and antifungal properties make it a good choice for conditions of the intestines, urinary tract and prostate, as well as assisting with colds, headaches and fevers. Although Citronella Essential Oil is most widely used in outdoor type formulations, it is also a lovely, affordable oil to consider for inclusion in blends where you want a refreshing, uplifting, clean aroma.

COSMETICS

There are two types of Citronella Essential Oil. We carry the Citronella Essential Oil extracted from Citronella Java grass, which is particularly sought after by natural perfumists due to its lovely, complex aromatic profile. It has a fresh, powerful, lemon-like scent and is higher in Citronellal and Citronellol than the Ceylon or Nardus variety. This means that the antiseptic and antimicrobial actions will be more powerful and therefore the deodorizing effects will also be more effective. It is both an antioxidant and astringent, making it a fantastic choice for DIY skin care blends formulated for clarifying and rejuvenating the skin. 

EMOTIONALLY & ENERGETICALLY

Citronella Java Essential Oil soothes and grounds feelings of excess movement and energy, while also being uplifting to cast away sadness and inertia. This essential oil is often used to help cool and dispel negative emotions. This essential oil is also an excellent sleep support, great for promoting a deep, sound sleep.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply Topically: Our Single Essential Oils and Blends are 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high-quality Carrier Oil and use in an easy to apply roller bottle. For a guide on how much to use, see our dilution chart here. 

Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil diffuser or apply to your wrists and inhale. You can also add a few drops to your hands and form a 'tent' over your nose and inhale. A great way to diffuse when you are on the go is to use diffuser jewellery or a car diffuser.

Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician. Essential oils are highly concentrated and powerful oils and can cause serious harm if ingested without the necessary expertise required - for this reason, ingestion of essential oils is NOT recommended.
