Believed to be one of the oldest documented Frankincense varieties, Frankincense Serrata Essential Oil is often thought to be the Frankincense referenced in ancient texts, including the Bible and traditional Ayurvedic medicine.

Frankincense Serrata is naturally rich in monoterpenes such as alpha-thujene, alpha-pinene, and limonene. These powerful constituents give the oil its well-known antiseptic, decongestant, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it both versatile and deeply therapeutic.

Each and every batch of Amala essential oils is tested by an independent international laboratory before being sent to us. A Certificate of Analysis is issued, stating the purity of the oil.

REPORTED BENEFITS AND USES

AROMATHERAPY

Exceptionally gentle and well-tolerated, Frankincense Serrata is suitable for sensitive systems, including children and the elderly. It is commonly used to ease mild aches, headaches, and muscle tension, while also supporting respiratory health by helping to clear congestion and mucus.

This oil also offers natural antimicrobial benefits, helping to neutralise harmful germs and bacteria when used on the body or as part of natural home-care applications.

COSMETICS

With its clean, fresh, citrus-terpenic aroma, Frankincense Serrata has long been entwined with sacred ritual and ancient healing traditions. Highly regarded in Ayurvedic medicine, it supports skin renewal and repair—helping to soften the appearance of fine lines, scars, stretch marks, acne, and blemishes, while nourishing dry or cracked skin. Its rejuvenating properties make it a valued ally in natural anti-ageing skincare.

EMOTIONALLY & ENERGETICALLY

Revered for centuries, Frankincense Serrata is deeply calming and grounding. It encourages inner stillness, clarity, and emotional balance, making it especially supportive during meditation and reflective practices.

Apply Topically: Our Single Essential Oils and Blends are 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high-quality Carrier Oil and use in an easy to apply roller bottle. For a guide on how much to use, see our dilution chart here

Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil diffuser or apply to your wrists and inhale. You can also add a few drops to your hands and form a 'tent' over your nose and inhale. A great way to diffuse when you are on the go is to use diffuser jewellery or a car diffuser.

SAFETY

Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or under a doctor’s care, consult a physician. Avoid contact with eyes.

Do not use internally unless instructed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician. Essential oils are highly concentrated and powerful oils and can cause serious harm if ingested without the necessary expertise required - for this reason, ingestion of essential oils is NOT recommended.

We do not recommend using essential oils on pets, unless under the care of a veterinarian or aromatherapist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sourced internationally from sustainable crops of plants, grown organically wherever possible, and bottled locally in sunny SA, we're the best of all worlds.

Absolutely not, all of our oils are pure essential oils, nothing else. We will never supply oils with added fillers, synthetic additives or toxic chemicals.

Added to that our oils are certified organic wherever possible, or wild harvested from trees in remote places like the Amazon.

Whilst our oils are 100% pure and organic and as good quality as any others you can get, we do not recommend swallowing them. Oils are very strong and using too much, or the wrong oil can damage your digestive system.
Always ask your doctor or qualified aromatherapist before taking any essential
oils internally.
