Our organic Melissa Essential Oil also commonly known as Lemon Balm Essential Oil, is steam distilled from the wonderfully fragrant flowers and leaves of the perennial Melissa officinalis herb nurtured in the Bulgarian countryside. Melissa Oil is considered one of the most powerfully medicinal essential oils in all of aromatherapy, with a bright, lemony, herbaceous aroma that most individuals find very pleasant and uplifting. The herb received the name Melissa because of its sweet, fresh, citrus-like fragrance, which is known to attract bees (Melissa is Greek for honey bee).

A luscious herb with a sweet aroma, Melissa has serrated leaves and petite white and pink flowers. Both the flowers and the leaves are put through a steam distillation method to extract and capture the essential oil. An exceptionally low yield (about 0.05%) makes Melissa (Lemon Balm) Oil a very costly oil and one that is commonly adulterated with inexpensive oils like Lemongrass, Citronella and Litsea Cubeba. Known by many to be a true aromatic elixir, Melissa's unassuming power makes it a vital component of any essential oil pharmacy.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply Topically: Our Single Essential Oils and Blends are 100% pure and undiluted. To apply to the skin, dilute with a high-quality Carrier Oil and use in an easy to apply roller bottle. For a guide on how much to use, see our dilution chart here. 

Diffuse & Inhale: Breathe in your favorite essential oils using an essential oil diffuser or apply to your wrists and inhale. You can also add a few drops to your hands and form a 'tent' over your nose and inhale. A great way to diffuse when you are on the go is to use diffuser jewellery or a car diffuser.
